Calabaceados is originated in Baja California from the farm
ranchers. it is the newest form of folkloric dancing from Mexico established
in the Baja California
Norte is known as the evil stepchild of Mexico
because it used to be part of California therefore there are many English
speaking Mexicans that live there. Calabaceados represent the ranches and
all the animals that reside there. It is an energetic, competitive dance
that uses the movements of goats, ducks, chickens, horses, pigs and all the
other animals. The yelling is a representation of challenge and
encouragement as they clearly represent the farm animals.
